Running the Race
Hebrews 12:1 - Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
All of us have a race to run, goals to accomplish, jobs to complete. Think about what we do each day. We get up, go to work, come home, do chores, eat, rest, go to bed, get up and repeat the same things. We race from one activity to the next to support our families and care for ourselves and the ones we love.
Even when we do these things with our hearts fixed on Jesus and His love for us, there are times when we grow weary, physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually.
All of this teaches us to rely on Jesus our Savior. It reminds us of how much our very existence depends upon our Savior. He has promised us that He will never leave us or forsake us. He just asks us to trust Him.
Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
