Confession = Freedom
1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We all make mistakes; we all get sideways in life at times. As a believer when you do, you know in your heart that you’ve failed. Understand that the Holy Spirit in you reveals this to you not to make you feel bad, or feel ashamed, but that you will realize the sin needs to be confessed to your Heavenly Father so that you will be free from shame and guilt.
If you have ever had a loved one who struggled with some type of addiction, you understand this concept. You try to help in any way you can to help that loved one be free from their addiction. The Holy Spirit works in each believer’s life to help them to be free from the bondage of sin.
Unconfessed sin will always lead a person into more sin, Sin always leads down, down, down, until a person comes to their self and realizes, “I must confess this sin to the Lord, and I know he will forgive me.”
Remember, when you sin, when you get sideways in your spiritual life, God wants you back. He created you to have fellowship with Him. Remind yourself, “He is Faithful and Just to forgive and to cleanse.
