Why Did He Come?
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not inputing their transpasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19
Christianity has its roots in the deep, firm soil of history. Jesus' incarnation--God invading human history in the form of a man--is on the record. Every time you write the date, you attest to the fact that God entered human history.
Jesus came into the world so we might know that God cares how we live, what we believe, and how we will die. Jesus came to demonstrate to us that we were made to have a personal relationship with God. He came to bridge the gap that separated us from our Creator.
Every time Jesus fed the hungry, He was saying, "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35). Every time He healed someone, He was saying, "It hurts Me to see you in pain." Every time He lifted the burden of sin, He was saying, "Your Heavenly Father is grieved when you remove yourself from His grace."
Every miracle Jesus performed and every word He spoke reminds us that He came to reconcile a lost world to our loving, compassionate God. Has this happened to you?
