I Must
1. Luke 2:49 - And he said unto them, how is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
This is one of four “I Must,” statements made by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Here He was speaking of the business of His heavenly Father. Mary, at this point, did not exactly appreciate who He was and what His work entailed, but she pondered these things in her heart.
2. Luke 4:43 – “And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.” Jesus preached everywhere He went as we learn in Luke 8:1 – “And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,”
The Good News of the Gospel should be taught and preached everywhere.
3. Luke 13:33 - Nevertheless, I must walk today, and tomorrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.
Jesus didn’t fear the threats of Herod, Jesus knew what God’s plan was for His life.
4. Luke 19:5 - And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house.
Zaccheus was determined to see Jesus, but he didn’t expect Jesus to take notice of him. Jesus knew the things He must do, He understood what the will of the Heavenly Father was and as we read in Isaiah 50:7 - For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
