What Manner of Love

1 John 3:1, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that

we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not,

because it knew him not.”

How does God’s Word define His love for you and I?

  1. Defined as Great in:

Ephesians 2:4, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith

he loved us,”

There is nothing greater than the love that God has for His children.

God’s love is great, but He doesn’t save us by His Love, He saves us

by His grace.

  1. Defined as Everlasting in:

Jeremiah 31:3, “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I

have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with

lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”

Romans 8:35, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall

tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or

peril, or sword?”

Romans 8:36, “As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day

long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors

through him that loved us.”

Romans 8:38, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor

angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things

to come,”

Romans 8:39, “Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be

able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our

Lord.”

  1. Defined as Sacrificial in:

Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we

were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Jesus loves me, this I know, because the Bible tells me so.
