Benefits of Serving God

Psalm 68:19 - Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

When a person is seeking a place of employment one of the concerns is what benefits are offered. The answers looked for might be a 401K plan, insurance, sick pay or vacation time.

All these benefits are offered by some employers who want to attract the best and most loyal employees.

Have you ever thought about the benefits of serving God? We are told in Psalm 103:2 - Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

So there we are reminded to not forget all His benefits. We also see in Psalm 116:12 - What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

So, let’s look at the Scripture to see what some of the benefits are of serving the True and The Living God.

  1. As believers we are joint heirs with Jesus Christ. When we accept Christ as our Savior we become children of God, joint heirs with Jesus. We read in Romans 8:17  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;
  2. As believers God is our Fortress. Psalm 18:2 - The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
  3. As believers we are His Friends. John 15:13  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:14  Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

What tremendous benefits God has for His children. Joint heirs with Christ, a mighty Fortress is our God, the blessing of what a Friend we have in Jesus, and so many more benefits that are taught in God’s Word.
