Be Content
Hebrews 13:5 - Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee
Did you hear about the farmer who grew discontent with his farm so he decided to sell it? A few days later his real estate agent phoned wanting approval for an advertisement she intended to place in a local paper. She read it to the farmer. It described a beautiful farm in an ideal location---quiet and peaceful, rolling green pastures blessed with well-bred livestock and a huge lake. The farmer said, “Read that to me again.” After hearing it a second time he said, “I’ve changed my mind. I'm not selling. I’ve been looking for a place like that all my life.”
Sometimes we don’t appreciate or are not thankful for our blessings until they are gone.
That word conversation in Hebrews 13:5 means your manner of life. Does your manner of life illustrate a life of contentment or a life that seems to be never satisfied. Don't be known as a selfish person who only thinks of yourself. Jesus loves you and wants you to show forth His love by being content. Can you say as the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:11 - Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
You may never have great riches or great power, but as a believer you can be assured you have a Great Savior who is always with you.
Just knowing that Jesus is with you as a believer in the Person of the Holy Spirit ought to cause us to be content.
1 Timothy 6:6 - But godliness with contentment is great gain.
