What is the Christian Life?  Service

Acts 11:25 - Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

Act 11:26 - And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And

it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church,

and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in

Antioch.

The disciples were called Christians at Antioch because they were acting like

Christ. Let’s look at what that means.

  1. A life of Service – Jesus said in Mark 10:45 - For even the Son of

man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his

life a ransom for many.

That word minister means “to serve,” Jesus came to serve. So, we

see the Christian life is a life of service.

Romans 12:9 - Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is

evil; cleave to that which is good.

Rom 12:10 - Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in

honour preferring one another;

Rom 12:11 - Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

We serve the Lord humbly according to Acts 20:19 - Serving the Lord with all

humility….

Also, we learn in Galatians 5:13 - For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty;

only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one

another.

The Christian life is a life of service to the Lord and to others by humbly

showing others the Love of God.
