Loving and Just

For the Lord our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth.  Daniel 9:14

The Bible tells us that God is loving and merciful---and this is absolutely true. That truth, however, makes some people wonder how He could send anyone to Hell.

But do you honestly think God ought to excuse people like Hitler or Stalin, and tell them He doesn't really care that they killed tens of millions of innocent people? Do you really think God should welcome them into Heaven in spite of their relentless evil? I doubt if you do.

Sins like murder and rape and violence are an offense to our holy and pure God---as is every sin. God can't simply ignore evil or pretend it doesn't exist; to do so would be unjust. If someone hates God and chooses to do evil, God should not overlook that lifelong rebellion. The Bible is very clear: "He hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained" (Acts 17:31).

Those of us who name Jesus as Savior and Lord, however, have trusted Him for our eternal salvation. And we know that someday evil will be destroyed and Christ will reign forever.
