Never Too Late

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall life you up.  James 4:10

 

He and his brother were in prision awaiting trial for selling drugs. In his letter he said, "We both know we've messed up our lives and . . . hurt our parents a lot." It was my privilege to reassure him that it is never too late to get back on God's path, the path his Christian parents had raised him to know. Nor is it ever too late for you to honestly face your sins and turn to Jesus in repentance and faith.

One reason this young man's parents are hurting is because they love him, yet he rejected them by his actions. In a far greater way, God loves each one of us, and yet we hurt Him deeply when we turn our backs on Him. But He loves us despite our sin, and He stands ready to forgive us. Forgiveness is not something we deserve; it only comes as a gift of God's grace.

I told this young man something you, too, may need to hear: don't let another day go by without Christ. No matter what the future holds, you will never be alone when Jesus lives within.
