Hiding from God
Genesis 3:8 - And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. They had been told by God if they disobeyed Him they would surely die! We know that physically they did not die that day because we have the account in Scripture that Adam lived 925 years.
What we do know is that they hid from God because of their sin. When they sinned, they died spiritually. They had been created in the image of God. They hid from God because we learn in John 4:24 - God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
As believers we sometimes hide from God because of known sin in our lives. Our relationship with God is right because we have trusted Christ as our Savior, but our fellowship is hindered because of sin.
Thankfully God provided a way to renew that fellowship in 1John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
When you confess to God that you have sinned, He will forgive you and place those sins in the sea of forgetfulness, He will never bring them up again.
