Ambassadors for Christ

2Corinthians 5:20 - Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

Webster’s dictionary defines ambassador as follows;

Ambassador – A diplomatic agent of the highest rank accredited to a foreign government for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment.

As Christians we are in a foreign land, Heaven is our home country. As ambassadors, we represent the Lord Jesus and our heavenly homeland.

We are to be Patriots who love our leader and our homeland. Jesus is our Leader and Heaven is our homeland. As ambassadors to our home country we have been commissioned to go and tell others about how great our home country is.

Jesus outlined that commission in Matthew 28:19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Matthew 28:20 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

And again in Acts 1:8 - But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

You and I as born-again sons and daughters of God are heavenly ambassadors. We represent the King of Kings. Our message is the message He has entrusted to us. We serve at His command.

Let’s give our time and attention to doing the best job we can for Him to Whom we owe so much.
