O, That Men Would Praise the Lord
Psalm 107
As Christians we need to learn to praise the Lord! Jesus said in Matthew 21:16, “…Out of the mouths of babes and suck lings thou hast perfected praise.”
He was quoting a verse in the Psalms, Psalm 8:2 that says, “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast ordained strength because of Thine enemies, that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
When we praise the Lord, the enemy is stopped. Why would we not want to do that?
You might say, “I don’t know what to praise the Lord for.”
I’m going to give you some ideas from the Word of God.
Look with me in Colossians 1:12-14
We ought to praise God for:
- Our Inheritance – Verse 12 – Romans 8:16, The Spirit Itself Beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God; 17 – And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we also may be glorified together. I Peter 1:4, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.
- Our Deliverance – Verse 13 – Luke 4:18 Jesus said He came to preach deliverance to the captives. At one time we were all slaves to sin but because of Jesus we have been set free, if you as a child of God are living in bondage it is a choice you have made.
- Our Redemption – Verse 14, Luke 10:20, Rejoice not that the spirits are subject unto you but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. I John 5:13, These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life. God wants us to know and because we know we should rejoice!
- Victory in our trials - I Cor 15:57, But thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Praise the Lord today!
