And Thy House
John 12:3 - Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
2 Samuel 6:11 - And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household.
A little boy was sitting by a stack of luggage in a hotel lobby, and a sympathetic bellhop was trying to encourage him. Apparently there had been a mix-up on the reservations for this family which had just moved to town.
“Well, don’t cry,” said the bellhop. “One of these days soon you’ll have a home.”
The boy smiled. “Oh, that’s OK. We already have a home; all we have to do is find a house to put it in!”
Wise thinking. There’s a difference between a house and a home. And there’s a difference between any home and a Christian home. There is a different atmosphere to the home that gives its best to Christ. David put the ark (a symbol of Jesus Christ) in the house of Obed-edom and turned that humble dwelling into a holy of holies. “And the Lord blessed Obed-edom, and all his household.”
It’s wonderful for the family to attend church, but it’s even better to have a church in your own house. Give your all – your best – to Christ, and the fragrance and blessing will be yours.
