This is From Him

Mark 6:50 - ……….. Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

The disciples frantically wrestled with oars and sails as the little fishing boat became engulfed by the sea’s angry waves. How did they get into this mess? The answer: Jesus had sent them there.

What a sobering thought. At times God may lead us along ways that seem dark and lonely---stretching our ability to trust Him. The stormy trials come so quickly and hit so profoundly that we’re left reeling. Our hearts feel crushed under the pressure, and we find ourselves crying out in anguish.

But notice that Jesus went to the disciples during the storm. He didn’t go to them while the skies were blue and the waves were calm. Rather, He went when it appeared that all hope was lost and disaster seemed unavoidable. Yet His first words gave them hope: “Be of good cheer, it is I; be not afraid.”

So in your trial today, take His words to heart: “Be of good cheer, it is I; be not afraid.” This storm is from Him---the Lord has chosen this for you. But He is with you. Therefore, do not despair. Your Sovereign Savior has His eye on you, and He will certainly work all things together for your good when the time is right.
