Are You Overwhelmed?
Psalm 61:1-2
"Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I."
Have you ever been overwhelmed? That word means feeling faint or feeling like a failure. There are many things that can cause a person to feel overwhelmed. Burdens, heartaches, jobs, studies at school, raising your children, or the loss of a loved one, all these things and more can result in feeling like you just can’t handle the circumstances.
So, what do you do as a believer to get through these times?
First, pray. Our Heavenly Father does not want us to carry these alone. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." God wants you to take your burdens and cast them upon Him.
Second, realize God wants to guide you. You learn in Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Third, God will be your shelter. You can run to Him and find shelter from the storms of life. Psalm 61:3 - For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
Last, God will fight for you. The last part of Psalm 61:3 says, and a strong tower from the enemy.
So, if you are overwhelmed, remember that God is the One to Whom you must go for safety. Christian, you can make it if you go to God for His help. Trust God, for in Him you will find safety from that which is trying to bury you under.
