Love Received and Given

1 John 3:16 - Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

 

The full understanding of God’s love for you doesn’t happen in a day. It is an ongoing process. The more you seek His love, the further He expands your capacity to receive it, and the more profoundly you will comprehend your true identity in Jesus. You belong to Him as you’ve never belonged to anyone else. You are worthwhile to Him, and He sees all your wonderful traits and potential. And when you get to the end of all your self-efforts at striving for perfection, you’ll discover that your gracious heavenly Father has been loving you unconditionally all your life. Nothing is more liberating than that discovery.

There is no end to God’s love, and there ultimately will be no end to your ability to experience it. You need never feel love-starved again. His desire is to heal you, free you from bondage, and teach you. Because that is when you begin to truly reflect His image and not only love Him but also love others freely and unconditionally in His name (John 13:34-35).
