The Implanted Word
Psalm 119:169 - ……O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.
Do you believe God can speak to you? I do. There have been times when I’ve gone to bed with a problem on my mind, and the Lord has awakened me in the middle of the night with a verse of Scripture. At other times, I’ve awakened in the morning with a particular passage as my first thought. Each time, I knew God was bringing the Word that was already planted in my heart to remembrance to answer the deep questions I had brought to Him. He was speaking to me directly about the matters that were troubling me.
This is why reading the Bible regularly can be so powerful. When you face a trial or challenge, God reminds you of His Word---comforting, counseling, encouraging, convicting, strengthening, and leading you.
Would you like to hear God’s voice? Do you need His direction? Start by opening your Bible. Plant His word in your heart, and don’t ignore it when He brings it to mind. Then trust God to bring Scripture to your remembrance in very timely ways---right at the moment when you need to make a decision, encourage another person, or solve a problem.
Jesus, teach me how to listen to you through Scripture. Plant it deep in my heart and lead me, Savior. Amen.
