Wrong Direction?

1 Kings 8:24 - Who hast kept with thy servant David my father that thou promised him: thou spakest also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.

When God makes a promise to us, at times it will feel like He has us running in the wrong direction to take hold of it. This is on purpose, to grow our character and stretch our faith.

If you recall, David was anointed king over Israel, but it was decades before he actually sat on the nation’s throne. During those intervening years, David had many dangerous and disappointing moments to endure, including being hunted by King Saul. This was because before David could do God’s will, he had to be trained by adversity---learning to trust God completely, regardless of his circumstances.

Like David, you may be walking through a deep valley and wondering if you are still in God’s will and on track for His promise. Remember, God has promised to guide you, and it is His responsibility to fulfill His Word. Your job is to obey Him and persevere through the training.

David knew that he would eventually emerge victorious, so he became a man after God’s heart and learned to do God’s will regardless of his circumstances. You can too. Today, trust that the Lord keeps all His promises---including the ones He made to you.

“Jesus, help me trust You and learn through my trials. I have faith You will fulfill Your promise to me! Amen.”
