The New You
Galatians 4:7 - Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
You may have some negative thoughts about yourself that were ingrained in you during childhood. You know what they are. It’s possible they entered your mind this morning as you prepared for your day: I can’t handle this. I’m a failure. I’m worthless. No one wants me. I feel so alone.
But understand that those thought patterns were formed in you before your salvation, which is when you became a permanent child of the King of kings and Lord of lords. You are as different now as a slave and a true son: From sold cheaply to treasured as priceless (Luke 12:7). From menial in purpose to eternal in significance (Philippians 1:6). From having nothing to possessing everything (2 Corinthians 6:10). From having no say to having the most powerful Advocate (Hebrews 4:14-16).
So act like it! Cast down those slavish thoughts and embrace who you are now: a child of the living God who is adequate, capable, loved, and worthwhile in Christ.
Jesus, thank you for making me a new creation---a beloved child with both worth and purpose.
Amen
