What Causes Shipwrecked Lives

Acts 27: 4-21, 43-44

There have been times I have been shipwrecked in my life! Most of these times it has been my own fault. There have also been times when things have happened, things that I didn’t understand that have shipwrecked me in my life.

  • Impatience

Act 27:4 - And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

Act 27:5 - And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

Act 27:6 - And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

Act 27:7 - And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

Impatience caused the centurion to find another ship to sail to Italy. We must be patient about the things of God. He doesn’t work in the confines of time like we do!

I Thessalonians. 5:14 teaches us to, “Be patient toward all men.”

Isaiah 40:31 - But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Don’t allow impatience to shipwreck your life, trust God and His timing. He knows the past, present, and future.
