Who Was George Mueller

Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

George Mueller was a man of great faith and good character. He was a man of prayer and operated four orphanages in England. Time and again God answered his prayers to provide for the children.

“The children are dressed and ready for school. But there is no food for them to eat,” the housemother of the orphanage informed George Mueller. George asked her to take the 300 children into the dining room and have them sit at the tables. He thanked God for the food and waited. George knew God would provide food for the children as He always did. Within minutes, a baker knocked on the door. “Mr. Mueller,” he said, “last night I couldn’t sleep. Somehow, I knew you would need bread this morning. I got up and baked three batches for you, I will bring it in.”

Soon, there was another knock on the door. It was the milkman. His cart had broken down in front of the orphanage. The milk would spoil by the time the wheel was fixed. George smiled as the milkman brought in ten large cans of milk. It was just enough for the 300 thirsty children.

More than 10,000 children lived in the orphanage over the years. When each child became old enough to live on his own, George would pray with him and put a Bible in his right hand and a coin in his left. He explained to the young person that if he held onto what was in his right hand, God would always make sure there was something in his left hand as well.

We serve the same God today.
