Reaching Your Potential
James 4:10 - Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
God sees us not as we are, but as who we can be if we humble ourselves and submit to Him.
In Mark 9:33-35 we read about a question that was asked the disciples by Jesus.
Mark 9:33-35 - And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, “What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?” But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, “If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.”
God’s ways are not our ways; we learn throughout Scriptures. The world looked at Moses and saw a humble man, God looked at Moses and saw a great leader. The world looked at Gideon and saw a man hiding behind the winepress (Judges 6). God looked at Gideon and saw a “mighty man of valor.” The world looked at David and saw a shepherd boy, God looked at David and saw a King! The world looked at Saul and saw a persecutor of Christians, God looked at Saul and saw Paul, a man He could use to write many books of the New Testament.
God is constantly looking for someone who is willing to submit to Him and allow Him to use them in a great and mighty way. We read in Isaiah 6:8 – “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I; send me.”
What does God see when He looks at you, surrender to Him and let Him show you as he did Jeremiah in Jeremiah 33:3 – “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
