Trust His Truth

Colossians 3:2 - Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Perhaps the deepest yearning of your heart is to know God – to worship, serve, and please Him with everything in you. But before you trusted Jesus to be your Savior, you had trouble with anger, fear, lust, greed, or some other sin. Now, even with the great victory Jesus has given you, you are easily depressed because of the failings of your flesh.

So, what can you do? You commit yourself to Bible study, prayer, memorizing Scripture, and reading books about your struggles, but nothing works. Temporary triumphs almost always lead to eventual relapse. It’s a very frustrating circle of resolve and regret.

Understand that your struggle isn’t just about improving your behavior but is about renewing your mind – changing how and what you think. God must completely replace your thought-life with His own. That takes not only time but acknowledging that God is right even when you disagree with Him.

Do not be wise in your own eyes. Trust Christ’s truth to set you free from your bondage to sin. Examine your response to the Lord and submit yourself to whatever He shows you.
