The Power of One Witness
Act 8:30-31 - And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
And he said, how can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
Here we read the story of Phillip being removed from the crowds in Samaria by the Holy Spirit to present the Gospel to one person, an Ethiopian eunuch. This Ethiopian was searching the Scripture for truth and God sent Phillip to help him understand.
We learn also in Acts 18:24-26 - And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.
This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
Here Priscilla and Aquila took Apollos aside and instructed him in the good news of Jesus Christ. In these verses we get a picture of God and how he cares for the individual, He is willing to leave the ninety-nine to find the lost sheep. He knows each of us and our innermost needs.
We too can show this love by praying and asking God who He wants us to witness to today. Who do we know that needs a better understanding of the Word of God? Who is it that we need to properly instruct in the ways of God?
