Our Omnipotent Helper

"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me."  John 15:26

God the Holy Spirit is equal with the Son and with the Father in every respect. Although the doctrine of the Trinity is difficult for us to understand, the Bible teaches that He is coequal with God the Father and coequal with God the Son.

The Bible also teaches that the Holy Spirit is a person. He is never to be referred to as "it". He is not an impersonal power or force, nor is He just a divine influence or agent. He is a mighty person, the Holy Spirit of God.

The Bible tells us as well that the Holy Spirit is omnipotent. That means He has all power. The Bible also tells us that He is omnipresent. That means He is everywhere at the same time.

What should this mean to me? With the seventeenth-century Anglican bishop Jeremy Taylor, I can say, "It is impossible for that man to despair who remembers that his Helper is omnipotent."
