Being Sensitive to the Holy Spirit
Psalm 32:1-11
Give special attention to Psalm 32:8 - I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
Psalm 32:9 - Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.
God wants to guide us with His eyes. Let me illustrate what I think He is speaking of this morning.
Baseball’s 3rd base coach gives signals to the batter. The batter knows that by watching the 3rd base coach he will know whether to swing away, take a pitch or maybe bunt. If the batter’s eyes are not on the 3rd base coach, he will stir up the wrath of the manager of the team.
A soldier out on patrol has a point man that leads the group; he will lead with signs. Everyone must watch the point man for instructions, their lives depend on it!
Listen to the instructions of God Who wants to lead us with His eyes. But, if we won’t watch Him, if we don’t listen to Him, He will put a bridle on our heads, He will put a bit in our mouth and he will lead us that way. Which do you prefer? With eyes or a bit?
Hebrews 12:2 - Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
Keep your eyes on the Lord by being faithful to Bible study, prayer, Sunday School classes, and worship services so that when the Holy Spirit speaks, you will be sensitive to His promptings and quick to obey Him.
