In The Potter’s Hands

Jeremiah 18:6 - O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter?

saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in

mine hand, O house of Israel.

Clay in the potter’s hand can be molded into whatever the potter

needs, if the clay submits to the potter. God makes it clear in Jeremiah

18 that even when the clay is marred because of a lack of submission,

the potter can remold the vessel into another useful vessel.

We read in Romans 9:21- Hath not the potter power over the clay,

We know He does, but if the clay fails to yield, the vessel is marred.

Thank the Lord for Jeremiah 18:4 - And the vessel that he made of

clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another

vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

God is a patient, longsuffering God. If our life has been marred by sin

and rebellion, there is always the forgiveness of God and the

opportunity to start anew. Abraham needed a second chance, so did

Jonah, and Peter. We read in 2 Timothy 2:21 - If a man therefore purge

himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and

meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

The only time the Potter cannot work with the clay is when it has

hardened beyond use. God’s Word warns us about the dangers of

hardening our hearts. Keep your heart soft and receptive to the Word

of God.
