Words of Wisdom

The word of wisdom for today is Control.

  1. 1. Proverbs 13:3, “He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he

that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.”

A wise person will save a lot of grief by keeping his mouth. Proverbs

goes on to say in Proverbs 13:14, “The law of the wise is a fountain of life,

to depart from the snares of death.”

Christians must learn to stand by disciplines if we want to “depart

from the snares of the devil," as we’re told in Proverbs 13:14.

  1. Not only our mouth, but we must also have control in regards

to our companions and friends. Proverbs 13:20, “He that walketh

with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be

destroyed.”

1 Corinthians 15:33, “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good

manners.” That word “communications” means companions.

  1. Control of our time. There is always time to do what God wants

done. There is always time to do what we should do.

Ephesians 5:16, “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”

Control of our tongue, control of our companions, and control of our

time requires discipline in each of our lives. This kind of discipline

comes only as we spend time and meditate on the Word of God.
