Heart Problems
Proverbs 4:23 - Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
The words you speak reveal what is in your heart. Jesus put it like this in Luke 6:45 - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Everyone at one time or another has spoken things they felt bad about later, that is why David said in Psalm 19:14 - Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. David understood that the thoughts he is meditating on would affect how he spoke. We must fully submit ourselves to God to be able to purify our thoughts and emotions. We are told in 2 Corinthians 10:5 - Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
Thankfully when we obey the instructions found in Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: then our speech and our hearts will demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
