A Purpose and a Power
- by Billy Graham from Hope for Each Day
“Go quickly and tell…that He is risen from the dead.” Matthew 28:7
When Samuel Morse, inventor of the telegraph, sent his first message, he telegraphed these words: “What hath God wrought!”
The greatest news ever sent tells of a far greater event God has wrought: Christ is risen. On that first resurrection day, the angel at the tomb delivered the most important message anyone can ever hear: “He is not here; for He is risen” (Matthew 28:6).
When Adam and Eve first sinned, God’s warning became a reality: “You shall surely die” (Genesis 2:17). From that moment on, death reigned over the human race—and with it, fear, dread, and superstition.
But Christ’s resurrection changed all that, bringing hope and salvation to all who put their trust in Him. Listen: Death is a defeated foe! Christ has won the victory. That is why Paul could say, “Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jusus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). Is your confidence in Jesus Christ, the risen Lord?
