Hope
There’s an old hymn that we sing that goes like this;
“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.”
Where is your hope and what does the Word of God teach us about hope?
We learn in I Peter of a “living hope.” 1 Peter 1:3-4 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
In Titus we are taught about the “blessed hope.” Titus 2:13 - Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.
We also learn in II Thessalonians of a “good hope.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 - Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
In the book of Hebrews we are taught of a “better hope.”
Hebrews 7:19 - For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
Also, in the book of Hebrews we learn that our hope is “sure and steadfast.”
Hebrews 6:19 - Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast…
Where is your hope today?
