Spiritual Nourishment

Matthew 4:4 - But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Our physical bodies need the nourishment of good foods. Our spiritual bodies need the nourishment of the Word of God.

The average healthy adult eats three meals a day along with a few snacks. Do you take time to feed on the spiritual nourishment of the Word of God? Job confessed he valued the Word of God more than his necessary food.

God’s Word is food for the Spirit that indwells every believer, and we can be sure it is a well-balanced diet. We learn it is the milk of the Word in 1 Peter 2:2 - As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

For the mature Christian it is the strong meat of the Word that we learn about in Hebrews 5:13-14 -  For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

The psalmist says the Word is sweet as honey in Psalm 119:103 - How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Jesus compares the Word to bread in Matthew 4:4 - But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. What a menu, milk, meat, honey and bread the Lord sets before us in His Word.

Read it, meditate, memorize, and obey it. Then you will grow spiritually and be strong because the Word is abiding in you!
