Attributes of God’s Love - 1

1 John 4:7, “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one

that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.”

The above verse is not just a suggestion, it is a command. As believers we

are to love one another. That love is shown forth in the following ways.

Compassion – This compassion comes from a heart that has been changed

by the love that God has shown and shared with believers. Romans 5:5, “And

hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our

hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

Thirty-nine verses in the King James Bible contain the Word Compassion,

once for every stripe that Jesus received as He was beaten for our

transgressions.

That Great, Everlasting, and Sacrificial Love that He has shown to us we

should allow the Holy Spirit to show forth through us to others.

We are commanded in 1 Peter 3:8, “Finally, be ye all of one mind, having

compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:”

And again, in Jude 1:22, “And of some have compassion, making a difference:”

Over and over in Scripture we read, “Jesus was moved with compassion. Are

we allowing the Holy Spirit to move us to worship, witness, and work for the

Lord because of His Love that has been shown to us?
