                                                        Love of God

1 John 3:1, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that

we should be called the sons of God: therefore, the world knoweth us not,

because it knew him not.”

Let’s look at what God teaches us in His Word about His Love for us.

The love of God is described as being great in

Ephesians 2:4, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he

loved us.”

The love of God is Great in its Scope

Think about what we learn in John 3:16, “God so loved the world.” It doesn’t

say God’s love saved the world, because it’s not the love of God that saves

sinners. It is the Grace of God.

Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:

it is the gift of God:”

Ephesians 2:9, “Not of works, lest any man should boast”.

The Love of God is Great in its Security

John 10:29, “My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is

able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

When the Heavenly Father gives eternal life that means you don’t earn it, nor

do you work for it. He gives it. If it ends in a day, week, month, or year, then

it is not eternal life; it is temporary life.

The Love of God is Great in its Sanctification

John 17:17, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

As believers we are set apart by the Word of God. That is, the Word reveals

the mind of God. As you read and apply the Word, you are led to set yourself

apart for a particular ministry. We can serve Him only as we know His Word

and are obedient to it.
