The Love of God
Yesterday we looked at how Great the love of God is in its scope, security
and its sanctification.
Not only is His love described by being Great, we also see His love described
as being everlasting.
Jeremiah 31:3, “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved
thee with an everlasting love:”
The only explanation I have for why God loves us is that it is not because of
anything He sees in us but because of who He is. He finds the explanation in
Himself.
1 John 4:10, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent
his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
Romans 8:35, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or
distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”
Romans 8:36, “As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are
accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him
that loved us.”
Romans 8:38, “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,”
Romans 8:39, “Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Thank God for His Great and Everlasting Love.
