So We Will Know

Exodus 9:16 - And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

It’s one of the most famous stories in Scripture – how God used ten plagues to free the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt. Why did He choose this as His strategy? In a stunning revelation, the Lord declared to Pharaoh, “I have raised thee up to show in thee My power.” In other words He could have freed the Israelites from Egypt immediately. Instead, however, He chose to demonstrate His power. Why?

Repeatedly in Exodus we read it was because He wanted the Israelites – as well as the Egyptians and the rest of the world – to see Him at work. He wanted everyone on earth to know Him as the one and only God.

This should be instructive to you today. The trials in your life have been allowed to tarry because your Heavenly Father wants you – and others – to see Him in action. So, you will know Him – that He is all-powerful, all-wise, and unconditionally loving toward you. So do not despise the difficulties. Rather, see them as the platform for Him to reveal Himself to you.
