I John 3:2
It Does Not Yet Appear What We Shall Be
Some people say, “What is going on?” “I don’t understand!” “Where are we going?” “Things are really messed up!”
I want to remind you of what the first verse of I John 3:2 says, “Now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be.” Have you ever been to a construction site? It looks like anything but a building. That’s because it does not yet appear what it shall be! But bit by bit under the architect’s supervision, bricks, beams, and piles of sand start taking shape.
We are under construction. God is working on us as individuals, families, and as a church! In each one of us there are still areas that need caulking that may need a brick or two, attitudes that need to be disciplined, actions that need to be restrained, fruits that need to be fertilized!
Please be sensitive to the Holy Spirit; He is still working on all of us. Each Sunday School lesson that you hear will help you, the singing will help you, the preaching of God’s Word will help you, and the fellowship of the Saints will help you. We must realize that we are still being worked on.
God has already laid the foundation, His Son Jesus Christ. Now, what are we going to build on this foundation? God places people in our lives to put up the walls, plumbing, electrical, insulation, sheetrock, paint and trim. God uses others to do all of this. But, if we isolate ourselves, insulate ourselves; withdraw ourselves we miss out on being the building God created us to be!
“Now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be.”
