The Importance of Prayer
Colossians 4:2 - Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Prayer is the lifeblood of your relationship with the Lord. But perhaps you wonder how important it really is. Will you miss God’s plan if you don’t pray? Will you lose His favor or blessing?
While the Lord is not dependent on our prayers to achieve His plans, we miss out terribly when we don’t pray. It is through prayer that He reveals Himself to us, heals our wounds, teaches us our identity, and involves us in His work.
So, in a sense, your prayer (or lack thereof) can impact what God does. There are times when His purposes are set and nothing can change them, of course – such as the promises He’s given. But at other times, our lack of communication with Him means we’re missing the blessings He has for us. James 4:2 even tells us, “You do not have because you do not ask.” Your prayers can have a tremendous impact on your own faith and well-being – as well as others.
You have an awesome privilege to kneel before your all-powerful heavenly Father and know that He listens and will respond. So don’t waste that blessing. Learn from God and receive what He longs to give you.
