The Call of God
1, The call of God is personal. Jonah 1:1 - Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,
Jonah 1:2 - Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
2, The Call of God is plain. Jonah 3:2 - Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.
3. The Call of God is pivotal. Jonah 3:10- And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Jonah was a preacher that tried to run from God. We read in Psalm 139:8 - If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
Psalm 139:9 - If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Psalm 139:10 - Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
There is no place we can go, there is no place we can run to that God is not already there.
Which direction are you going? Matthew 7:13 - Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Matthew 7:14 - Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Jonah was swallowed by a whale while running from God. Don’t let the things of this world swallow you!
