Trust and Obey

 

1 Samuel 15:22 - And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 

There’s an old hymn we sing that goes like this.

When we walk with the Lord, In the light of His word,

What a glory He sheds on our way, 

While we do His good will, He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way,

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

 

God is not looking for us to check off a list of sacrifices, He wants us to trust Him.

 

When Jesus was asked what we could do to do the works of God, His reply is found in John 6:29 - Jesus answered and said unto them, “This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

So, we are to trust in Jesus, believe on Him, then Jesus teaches us in John 14:15 – “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

We see in the Scriptures; we are to trust Jesus and obey Him.

We do that by Loving God with all our heart, mind, and soul and loving others as ourselves.
