God’s Word is like a Sword

We have seen how that God’s Word is like a mirror. James 1:23 – “For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:”

We have seen that God’s Word is like a fire that has different effects, according to the material on which it works; it hardens clay, but softens wax; it consumes the dross, but purifies the gold. We also have seen that the Word is like a hammer that can break in pieces and then rebuild a life for the glory of God. Don’t neglect the Word of God.

Think about what we are told in,

1Thessalonians 2:13 - For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

God’s Word is like a Sword to cut.

Hebrews 4:12 - For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Ephesians 6:17 - And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

As Christians it is our responsibility to know our weapon. Don’t go to battle without your weapon.

Christ is the living Word of God. He used the Word of God to meet Satan in the hour of His temptation. Out of His mouth goeth a sharp two–edged sword in the battle of Armageddon (see Revelation 1:16; Revelation_19:21). He gains the victory with that sword. What is it? It is the Word of God. We need that sharp sword going out of our mouths today. The Word of God is a powerful weapon of offense. You and I are to use it.
