Our Heart Condition

 

1 Samuel 16:7 - But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 

Jesus put it like this in John 7:24 - Judge not according to the appearance but judge righteous judgment. 

Outward appearances can be deceiving. There have been people who worked the works of God, but Jesus said there would come a time when He would say, “Depart from me I never knew you.”

John Wesley for many years did the works of God, he memorized Scriptures and worked as a missionary to the American Indians. But, one day he realized that he must trust Christ as his Savior. Outwardly John Wesley looked and acted the part of a Christian, but it was just an act until he trusted Christ as his Savior.

2 Corinthians 13:5 - Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Allow God to search your heart as David said in Psalm 139:23 - Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
