Words
Isaiah 50:4 - The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
Has anyone ever said something to you that helped you and brightened your day? Often, we don’t realize how powerful words can be. We read in Proverbs 18:21 - Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
We should understand that words can build up or destroy. Some of my best memories of my time in school are the teachers who built me up by speaking words in season as Isaiah spoke about.
Words can encourage or discourage as we read in Isaiah 41:7 - So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
For you to be always ready to speak with the tongue of the learned as Isaiah did, you must spend time in the Word of God. For it is there we learn the importance of and the power of words!
Colossians 4:6 - Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
