Choose You This Day

Joshua 24:15 - And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Does Joshua’s question seem odd to you when you consider all that those being questioned had been through?

Think about this.

  1. They had chosen to place the blood on the doorposts in Egypt.
  2. They had crossed the Red Sea on dry ground.
  3. They had gathered manna each day in the wilderness.
  4. They had drunk water from the Rock.
  5. They marched around the walls of Jericho.

Now they were being asked if they would choose to serve God. I think the point Joshua was making was this, we must choose each day to serve God. We must choose each day to make serving God a priority in our lives.

Jesus said it like this in Matthew 6:33 - But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Choose you this day, he said! Let’s choose this day and each day to serve the True and the Living God.
