Building a Good Name
Proverbs 22:1 - A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
A good name is built according to Proverbs 22:1 by making the right choice. It says a good name is to be chosen.
In the Word of God, we see many genealogies with long lists of names. We see instances of God changing the names of some. Saul, after his Damascus Road experience, his name was changed to Paul.
In the Book of Ruth, we see that Naomi changed her name after the heartache of losing her husband and two sons. Naomi means pleasant, but she changed it in Ruth 1:20 - And she said unto them, call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. Mara means bitter.
Speaking of Jesus, we read in Acts 4:12 - Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
What do others think about when they hear your name? Let’s live our lives in such a way that when people hear our names they will think of Jesus.
