Attributes of God’s Love – 6
Pity - The Help of Love
1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone
that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
One of the ways we can show the love of God to our brothers and sisters in
Christ is to show pity. If the world sees us treating each other badly, then how
can we expect them to want to be a Christian.
Remember what we are told in 1 John 3:14 - We know that we have passed
from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his
brother abideth in death.
When the world sees Christians united in their love for one another,
encouraging one another and lifting up the fallen, then they see the love of
God in us.
1 Peter 3:8 - Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another,
love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
That word, pitiful in I Peter 3:8 means to be tender-hearted.
Why should we show these attributes of God in our lives? So that, the world
can see, “Christ in us, the Hope of Glory. (Colossians 1:27)
