The Single Mind

Philippians 1:21, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

The Apostle Paul had his focus entirely on doing what he knew to be the will of God in his life.

He says in Philippians 3:13, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,”

Philippians 3:14, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Paul had disciplined himself to trust the Lord Jesus in every situation he faced. He had been shipwrecked, beaten, and left for dead, but he still kept a joyful heart as he says in Philippians 2:17, “Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.”

We all need that singleness of mind that the Apostle Paul had. We seem to think that things are bad now, but not when you compare our circumstances to the Apostle Paul. Let’s keep our minds on the One Who created all things and has given us the promise found in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

We may not understand all that is happening in our world today, but we know the One who sees the beginning and the end. Let’s all obey the teaching found in Philippians 2:4, “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.”

Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”
