Jesus Praying for You - 3

John 17:1-26

Let’s continue our Study on Jesus’ prayer found in John chapter 17.

Jesus’ entire life was a life of prayer. He began His ministry by going into a solitary place to pray. Often, He went up into a mountain to pray and spent the night in prayer. He is our great Intercessor. Here, and every day as our Great Intercessor He prays for you and for me.

We saw previously that Jesus began this prayer by glorifying God in verse 4. Then we see in verse 6 that Jesus says He has manifested God’s Name!

Manifested means Jesus had revealed God for who He is, Jesus made God known to fallen man.

Today we see that in verse 8 of Jesus’ prayer He tells God that He has given us His Word.

Gave them God’s Word, verse 8, “For I have given unto them the words which Thou gavest me;…” Are you teaching others the Word that God has given unto you? Well, I’m not a teacher! You are if God has taught you anything, then you are a teacher with a responsibility to tell others what great things the Lord has done for you! Psalm 126:5-6 tells us, “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”

Thank God for folks who are willing to plant the seed of the Word of God. Proverbs 20:4 tells us, “The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore, he shall beg in harvest and have nothing.” People use all kinds of excuses not to share the Word, for example, they won’t listen, but our job is to plant the seed, they’re not sincere, our job is to plant the seed, we’re not seeing souls saved, our job is to plant the seed.

Some plant, some water, and some reap the harvest. Let’s be faithful about doing what God has called us to do and trust God and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
