Keep Hoping
Psalm 42:5 - Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
Sometimes we all get cast down or discouraged about circumstances in our lives. We need to remember that during these difficult times that we can choose to hope or choose discouragement.
The verse above reminds us to hope in God. Hope in the One who has created the universe. Hope in the One who has given us His Word. It is in His Word that we read of the example of David in 1 Samuel 30:6 - And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
We too can be encouraged in times of disappointment when we remind ourselves where our hope lies. The old song goes like this, “My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus’ Blood and righteousness.”
As believers God holds our futures in His hands. Let’s trust Him with all areas of our lives. Jesus said this in Matthew 11:28-30 - Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
